Steel Core 7.62x39 is Chinese military spec ammo. It is not designated "armor piercing". It doesn't really penetrate any better than the bi-metal Russian stuff, IMO. But it is more accurate--due to the necessarily longer bullet--which helps it to stabilize better. The accuracy I got out of my AKs ran 2-3 MOA as opposed to 4-6 MOA with everything else...

i've shot that and the tracer stuff in 22. tends to just mak things really, really, really dirty. other than that, i've never had any problems.

I've been hoping some of this would come around as I've bought some in other calibers. The site says no problems to fire through your weapon and I would assume that the projectile leaves the barrel as a normal round and the wild stuff happens on impact since it's not a tracer.

Ahh, big John is up to it again. He seems to have a soft spot for false advertisement.

Like Silver City said, steel core is NOT AP.

I once inspected a lot of his "Genuine USGI Lake City 7.62MM AP ammo with Hardened Tungsten Penetrator." It was WWII vintage 30 cal black tip projectiles reloaded in LC brass.

Of course, he had no idea...didn't mean to mislead anyone, it was sold to him as the genuine article, etc. etc. Oh, did I mention that he continued advertising/selling it after it was proven to him that his advertisement was false?
